Monday - Friday, 9a-3p

$450 Five Day Camps, $360 Four Day Camp

Ages 6-12, eight children maximum

Before & After-Care (M-F), $8 per half-hour

Session 1: June 18 - 22 (five day camp) + StarwitZ : Harry Potter Camp

Session 2: June 25 - 29 (five day camp) + StarwitZ : Harry Potter Camp

Session 3: July 2, 3, 6 (four day camp) + StarwitZ : Harry Potter Camp
*$360 for 4 day camp * This summer we will focus on "Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban"". We will delve into the magical and imaginary realm of witches and wizards through art, play and drama. Topics covered: wands & spell work; the Sorting Hat; Marauder's Map; visiting Diagon Alley & Hogsmeade; playing Quidittch; freeing Buckbeak&Sirius Black and attending Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination and Care of Magical Creatures classes. Headmistress ME has been a fan of Harry Potter books since the books came out in 1997!

Session 4: July 9 - 13 (five day camp) + Adoptees Connecting Camp (ACC) (6-14 ages)
This session is for adopted children who want to share and explore their adoption in a supportive and playful way with other adoptees. All campers will have many opportunities to celebrate their particular life journey as an adopted person through various art forms: writing, drawing, cooking, yoga, storytelling, mindfulness and drama. Mary Ellen was adopted as an infant and has been exploring adoption in various ways for many years.

Session 5: July 30 - August 3 (five day camp) + Fairy Camp
Session 6: August 6 - 10 (five day camp) + Fairy Camp
Calling all fairy fans! Flower and tree fairies await your arrival! Campers will make fairy furniture using clay, paper, nuts, wood and fabric. We will also spend time playing, singing and dancing in a wide array of fairy costumes. On Friday we will baking and making treats for our fairy tea party! Since she was a little girl in Indiana, Mary Ellen has enjoyed play acting with her neighbor friends and looks forward to meeting more fairies in her garden!

Session 7: August 13 - 17 + Gardening and Cooking Camp *All Food Organic
Come explore Mary Ellen's big, beautiful, magical backyard! Campers will harvest organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers and use them for yummy cooking projects. Basic gardening and cooking skills will be taught, and perhaps the garden fairies will show up to teach a few things! Mary Ellen has enjoyed creating recipes and trying them out since she was a youngster and loves to grow her own food.

If you have already been to a FAD PAD playshop or camp and your contact information has not changed you do not need to fill out the FAD PAD Emergency Form.

The FAD PAD 2018 Release form will be emailed to you once you fill the Registration form out and return it to me.

Once you register, please pay the camp fee. The cost for each 5 day camp session from is $450. The cost for the 4 day July 4th week is $360. Camp runs daily from 9am- 3pm.

*There are 4 ways to send this fee.*

A WORD ABOUT CANCELLATIONS: January 15-March 1: Receive half tuition refund. March 2- May 1: Receive a quarter of tuition refund. After May 2: No refunds.

M-F Before-care is available from 8:30-9:00. After-care is available from 3-5:30. $8 per half-hour.

Announcing: 10th Season of the Adoptees Connecting Club

ACC is a fun, safe and creative place for adoptees, 6-16 years old. This club is for children who want to explore their adoption story in a supportive and playful way with other adopted children. Each child will have many opportunities to share, explore and celebrate their particular life journey as an adopted person through various art forms: writing, drawing, cooking, yoga, mindfulness, creative visualization, drama and puppets. Since there are no more than 8 children at our club meetings, there is time for all to participate fully.

9 Saturdays, October 2017- June 2018
10:00am - 2:00pm

Sessions 1: Origins October 7, November 4, December 2, 2017
Sessions 2: Discovery January 13, February 3, March 3, 2018
Sessions 3: Affirming April 14, May 5, June 2, 2018

Home School Classes

Registration for Winter/Spring 2018 is open now!

Winter/Spring 2018 STARWITZ: A Harry Potter Book Series Class Tuesdays from 10-2.

Making books come alive with creative hands-on learning activities in a homey, fun and supportive environment.

This class will be based on, "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone". We will delve into the magical and imaginary realm of witches and wizards through art, play and drama. Some of the various activities will include the Kings Cross Station, Platform 9 3/4, Hogwarts Express, making wands & spell work, choosing the perfect witch/wizard outfit, creating an original name & house name, the Sorting Hat, the Mirror of Erised, the Sorcerer's Stone Quest as well as attending Charms, Potions and Transfiguration classes.

There will also be time for free play, climbing Bob (the loquat tree), exploring the gardens and the enchanted and forbidden forests!

This class is for children 6-12 years old (older or younger if you think your child would be a good fit).

Eight children maximum enrollment. 4 students minimum.
Oakland location near 580 and Edwards.

Headmistress, Mary Ellen Hill, MA, has been an avid fan since the HP books came out! She has been a professional storyteller since 1990. She is the director of FAD PAD playshops and camps. Mary Ellen also brings 30 years experience as a special and elementary education teacher and an after school day care teacher at Adventure Time. She has been teaching Harry Potter classes and camps since 2010. She has been offering Homeschool classes since 2014.

Sample Class: Each student will make wizard money- galleons, sickles, and knuts, and a cloth pouch to put it in. As a class we will set up Gringotts and choose the parts of goblins and the wizards/witches coming to the bank. Then we will act out the scene.

After School Classes

After School Enrichment!

Since 2004 I have been teaching a variety of after school enrichment classes in the East Bay. From Theater Arts, Puppetry and Storytelling, Hand Sewing and Embroidery to Starwitz ( based on the Harry Potter books). These classes are taught at home studios and elementary schools. I teach at the three primary schools in Piedmont; Havens, Beach and Wildwood. In Oakland I teach at Hillcrest, Redwood Heights and Sequoia.

Stitch~n~Time, Hand Sewing Skills with Mary Ellen Hill

K- 5th grade, 12 students max

For experienced stitchers and newcomers alike! Basic hand sewing skills will be taught. Students will learn how to mend clothes, sew on buttons and how to make puppets, pillows, and more!

Wednesdays 1:20-2:30pm September 16- December 9, 2015 ~ $150 (supplies included) + Administrative fee $10 = 10 fun classes ~ $160
